About Jennifer

I am currently employed with TriActive in Austin, TX, creators of web-based asset management and help desk software. I work on an Agile team where I create Java/J2EE web applications. I mainly work on the back-end in Java but also work on the front-end to create UI components with Ajax et al. I spend a good amount of time refactoring existing code to implement new features and I'm currently working with team members to modernize our help desk software.

I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from The Evergreen State College (2008). I studied software engineering, as well as the historical, ethical, and political aspects of computing and technology. My academic career culminated in a senior software project where I designed and coded a Java application for scientific researchers at the college.

From 2000-2006 I created websites for small businesses and larger software companies, including Sesame Communications and Apple Computer. I was passionate about developing engaging, easy to use websites that followed W3C web standards and accessibility guidelines. I enjoyed working with businesses to improve the user experience and bring sites inline with web standards.

I entered software engineering because I thrive on the challenge of solving complex problems, the joy that comes from providing people with great software, and the imaginative design process that software engineering requires.

Please see my resume for more information about my work history. Details on my senior thesis project can be found on the education page. Academic evaluations from my professors are also available on the education page. My full academic transcript is available on request.
